The choice of our starting point hinges on prevailing weather and wind conditions. In the event of a robust north-eastern wind, known as Bura, our initial paddle will trace the western side of the island, navigating alongside the City walls and Kalifront peninsula. Conversely, if a stronger southern wind, Jugo, is in play, our route will veer along the northern or north-eastern shoreline, nestled beneath the towering presence of Mt. Kamenjak.

The Kalifront peninsula unfolds as an expansive and meticulously preserved forest area, adorned with abundant wildlife and numerous sandy coves nestled between stony capes. On the eastern side, exposed to the Bura wind, the landscape is characterized by rugged terrain and a predominantly barren expanse. Yet, this very ruggedness adds to its allure, offering the beauty of pebbly beaches, towering cliffs, crystal-clear seas, and captivating geological formations. The uniqueness of this eastern stretch has led to its designation as a Geological Park. Our journey typically commences from our base around 09:30 on the first day, setting the stage for an immersive exploration of this diverse and picturesque region.

Our overarching objective for this leg of the journey is to reach Sv. Grgur, an island neighboring Rab and holding a poignant historical significance as a former political prison from the socialist era. This island encapsulates layers of history that add depth and resonance to our expedition. As we navigate toward Sv. Grgur, our itinerary is punctuated with several immersive stops, each contributing to the multifaceted experience of this adventure.

One of the standout destinations along the way is the Lopar Peninsula, a geological gem that stands out as a landmark in Croatia. Renowned for its geological formations, this peninsula is a testament to nature's artistry, boasting numerous sandy beaches—a rarity in the Croatian landscape. The fine sand beaches found here are a distinctive feature, adding an element of uniqueness to our exploration. As we meander through this geological marvel, the opportunity arises for you to immerse yourself in the beauty of these pristine sandy shores, taking in the surroundings and savoring the rarity of such landscapes in the Croatian coastal scenery.

Moreover, our journey involves more than just scenic appreciation; we delve into the exploration of fascinating caves that dot the landscape along our route. These natural formations beckon with an air of mystery and intrigue, providing an opportunity for a closer look at the geological wonders that have evolved over time. As part of our immersive experience, a special highlight emerges—the chance to take a leap into one of these captivating caves, adding an exhilarating dimension to our aquatic escapade. This act of plunging into the refreshing waters of a cave serves as a unique and unforgettable moment, underscoring the dynamic blend of history, geology, and adventure that defines our exploration of Sv. Grgur and its surrounding wonders.

Our expedition unfolds with the initial destination being the seemingly desolate Prvić Island, a sanctuary recognized for its status as both a botanical and zoological reserve. As we approach this unique island, our journey takes a brief pause for a refreshing swim, allowing you to immerse yourself in the pristine waters surrounding this natural haven. The barren landscape of Prvić Island harbors a wealth of plant and animal life, creating a harmonious ecosystem that has earned it the distinguished status of being a reserve for both botanical and zoological preservation.

Following this enriching interlude, our kayaks continue to cut through the crystalline waters as we make our way towards a prominent landmark—the Lighthouse. This marks a scenic juncture in our adventure, offering panoramic views and a chance to appreciate the coastal beauty that graces our route.

Our exploration ventures further as we navigate the narrow passage known as Senjska Vrata, aptly named the "Doors of Senj Town." This maritime passage serves as a gateway between geological formations, an intriguing traverse that connects distinct landscapes and narratives along our kayaking route.

Our journey culminates as we arrive at the majestic Krk Island, a destination renowned for its diverse landscapes and hidden gems. Here, nestled within one of Krk's secluded bays, we make yet another enchanting swim stop, providing an opportunity to relish a leisurely lunch amidst the serenity of these idyllic surroundings.

As the day unfolds, our final destination is the captivating Stara Baška, where we customarily conclude our day's adventures with an overnight stay on the beach. This quaint coastal haven invites you to unwind amidst the soothing sounds of the sea, basking in the tranquility that defines this picturesque corner of Krk Island. Stara Baška, with its blend of natural beauty and coastal charm, serves as the perfect setting to connect with the essence of our kayaking expedition and the unique wonders that Krk has to offer.

Our journey unfolds as we trace the captivating contours of the scenic coastline, savoring the coastal beauty until we reach the charming town of Krk. Upon arrival, we take the opportunity to replenish our supplies, ensuring we are well-prepared for the continuing adventure. The exploration doesn't end with the resupply, as we delve into the rich tapestry of the town, immersing ourselves in its cultural and historical offerings.

Following a leisurely break, our expedition takes an exciting turn as we embark on an hour-long crossing to the enigmatic Island of Plavnik. This island stands as another testament to nature's wonders, being both a zoological and botanical reserve. Notably, Plavnik is a sanctuary for Griffon Vultures, providing a unique nesting habitat for these majestic birds.

The Griffon Vulture population in the Kvarner region sets itself apart on a global scale. While these birds are found in various parts of the world, such as Spain, France, Italy, Serbia, Greece, and Bulgaria, the Kvarner population distinguishes itself by choosing to nest directly above the sea. This contrasts with their nesting habits in other regions, predominantly mountainous areas. As we soak in the extraordinary surroundings, we anticipate an overnight stay amid the mystical holm oak forest, adding a touch of enchantment to our kayaking expedition.

For those in a robust and adventurous group or those on a private tour, an intriguing option presents itself before reaching Krk town. We can venture into the small rounded bay of Punat, featuring the small islet of Košljun. Despite its seemingly modest size, Košljun claims a staggering 68,500 square meters and boasts an impressive biodiversity. With over 400 different plant species, surpassing even the islands of Great Britain, and a registered count of 151 types of mushrooms, Košljun unfolds as a natural paradise.

The island's lush landscape, covering 65% with rich forest, invites peaceful walks, meditation, relaxation, and exploration. Among its treasures is a fifteenth-century Franciscan monastery, housing a museum that beckons exploration. This extended route covers a total distance of 30 km, promising a comprehensive and immersive experience for those eager to embrace the extraordinary natural and cultural facets of this remarkable island.

As we commence the day, our adventure unfolds with a hearty breakfast, setting the stage for a day filled with exploration and awe-inspiring landscapes. Our first destination is the dramatic cliffs of Plavnik, where our kayaks navigate the rugged coastal terrain, offering a unique vantage point to appreciate the sheer beauty and geological marvels of this coastal gem.

Our journey takes an intriguing turn as we traverse the narrow Krushia channel, a mere 1 km in width, yet boasting an astonishing depth of 113 meters. This channel is recognized as the deepest in the bay of Kvarner, adding an element of both challenge and excitement to our kayaking expedition. This waterway serves as a gateway, leading us to our next destination—the captivating Island of Cres.

Upon reaching Cres, we take a short break, allowing you to absorb the surroundings and perhaps catch your breath after the exhilarating channel crossing. The exploration continues as we resume paddling, delving into the remarkable landscapes that characterize this part of Cres Island. An additional highlight awaits as we cross the 45th parallel, marking a geographical milestone that adds an interesting layer to our journey.

The shoreline of Cres unfolds as a picturesque canvas, adorned with a myriad of natural wonders. Beautiful pebbly beaches line the coast, inviting moments of relaxation and appreciation for the pristine environment. Towering cliffs along the shoreline provide nesting grounds for griffon vultures, creating a symbiotic relationship between nature and wildlife. The air is filled with the majestic presence of these magnificent birds as they soar above, adding a unique and unforgettable aspect to our exploration.

Large rock formations punctuate the landscape, adding a sense of grandeur to the coastline. These geological wonders stand as silent witnesses to the passage of time, contributing to the allure and mystique of Cres Island. As we paddle along this captivating stretch of shoreline, the immersion in nature's wonders continues, providing a sensory feast for those eager to embrace the beauty of the coastal landscapes and the diverse ecosystems that thrive in this pristine environment.

Post-breakfast, our journey resumes with a scenic paddle across the expansive 5-kilometer-wide channel, leading us to the Island of Krk. This leg of our kayaking adventure promises stunning views and an immersive experience of the open waters.

Upon reaching the shores of Krk, we take a brief break, allowing you to absorb the beauty of your surroundings and perhaps capture a few memorable moments. Our exploration continues as we paddle along the west coast of Krk, discovering the coastal charm and hidden gems that define this island's character.

By the time the sun reaches its zenith, our kayaks guide us to the Valbiska ferry port, marking a pivotal juncture in our journey. As we arrive at this bustling port, a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction envelops us. Here, amidst the lively port atmosphere, we take a pause to savor the memories of our kayaking expedition.

The transition from water to land involves more than just disembarking from our kayaks. It marks the beginning of the preparations for the transportation back to Rab. Our team diligently readies the gear and kayaks for their return journey, ensuring that everything is handled with precision and care.

As the noon hour approaches, our kayaks and equipment are set for transport, signifying the conclusion of our exhilarating trip.
