Kornati National Park (6 Days)

Itinerary

Sv. Filip i Jakov is a small town close to the city of Zadar and our starting point. We'll meet in Sv. Filip in the early afternoon. From here we have a 3,5 hour boat ride to the Levrnaka Island in the Kornati National Park, which is our base camp for the duration of the tour. The goal of the day is to reach the island, unload the gear and set up the camp. Following dinner we'll relax on the beach, go through the itinerary and prepare for the next day.

The area of Nature Park Telašćica is a distinctly contrasted area with quiet and peaceful beaches and a laid down coastline on one side, and wild and steep cliffs on the other, an area of Aleppo pine and holm oak forests on one side, and barren karst on the other. We head to the Nature Park following the outer ring of Kornati Archipelago, passing near the lighthouse Island of Vela Sestrica. After visiting the lake Mir, and the weather and time allows, we'll kayak beneath the high cliffs and return to Levrnaka through the inner ring of the archipelago.

On Kornat Island we visit the Fort Tureta from the 6th century and the little church of Holy Mother of Tarca, from the Byzantium Era. Metlina is the highest peak of Kornati (237m) from where you can see the whole archipelago, and the optional hike during the hot summer days can be quite exhausting - but the view from the top is spectacular and worth the extra energy!

Mana is the next island we visit. It has longest cliff crown (1.350m long), interesting remains of an old village and a beautiful pebbly beach. Following the Levrnaka's eastern shoreline, we return to Lojena beach in the campsite.

This is the longest paddling day on the tour with over 30 kilometers. For less experienced or easy-going paddlers we can split the strech in two days, spending the night on Lavsa and returning to Levrnaka the following day.

We start from Lojena beach and following the archipelago's outer ring (rich with cliffs) head towards the Island of Piškera, where we stop for lunch. Piškera is today an important base for nautic tourists, but is has been settled since the roman times and foundations of the ancient village can still be seen in the sea at the port bottom. Lavsa is an island south of Piškera, with a small village and olive groves – a perfect relaxation spot before returning to Levrnaka.

Kornati is a vast archipelago of unique islands, so we spend one day just kayaking around and visiting interesting location! This is a relaxploration and just fun day!

After breakfast we will load the gear unto a boat and prepare for the return trip, which is usually before noon. Meeting time on the mainland, transfers and other details regarding departure can be arranged before the tour (during the booking process).
